PROGRAMS

The Sweetwater Academy offers multiple programs aimed at taking your new skills to the next level. From Rock Camp and Drum Camp to Build-a-Band, you can learn everything from how to write and record your own songs to what it is to wow a crowd. We also offer master classes aimed at specific instruments for more advanced musicians. If you love the idea of learning as a team, you’ll definitely want to check out one of these fantastic opportunities.

Music Without Limits

Make Music. Make Friends. Make Some Noise.


Find your rhythm, feel the groove, and make music together! This upbeat, four-session class invites adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore rhythm, teamwork, and creativity in a fun, supportive space. Each session brings a fresh theme and hands-on time with boomwhackers, percussion, and Orff instruments — no experience is needed, just your love of sound and community!


Details:

Class size is limited to 10 participants, each with a required parent or support staff. Please share any accommodation needs during registration — Sweetwater and the instructor will provide all reasonable accommodations. (One-on-one support must be supplied by the participant’s own support person.) Registration closes 48 hours before class begins.

Beat Ensemble

Ages:  13–18
Starting at only $10

Make Music. Make Friends. Make Some Noise. A lively, monthly class for teens ages 13-18 – music for all abilities!


Feel the groove, turn up the rhythm, and create something awesome – together! This upbeat, once-a-month class is designed for teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore music through rhythm, teamwork, and creativity in a fun, supportive space.


Each session features a cool new theme and hands-on time with boomwhackers, percussion, and Orff instruments, so everyone gets to play – no experience needed!

Beat Ensemble Junior

Musical Play for Everyone! A joyful, once-a-month class for kids ages 5-12.


Feel the beat, make some noise, and discover the joy of making music together! This upbeat, once-a-month program invites children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore music through rhythm, teamwork, and creativity in a supportive group setting.


Each themed session features a fun musical theme and hands-on play with boomwhackers, Orff instruments, and all kinds of percussion – so every young musician can shine, no experience needed!

• Build confidence through self-expression and sound exploration.
• Connect with others in a fun, encouraging, and inclusive space.
• Team up with your parent or support staff for shared musical moments.

BEAT MAKING FOR GIRLS

Last Tuesday of Each Month 7–9PM
Starting at only $10
For girls ages 8+ at any skill level

Ready to create completely unique beats? This event is open to girls ages 8 or older who are at any skill level and want to take their first steps in making beats using Ableton Live, the industry’s most popular beat production software. Instructors Lucy Rhymes and Lizzy Tremaine will use a curriculum developed by world-renowned educator Erin “Mamma” Barra, creator of the popular “Introduction to Ableton Live” online instructional series used around the globe.

Here’s what you’ll learn:
  • The basics of beat making
  • An intro to Ableton Live
  • Fundamentals of MIDI
  • How to make sick beats



TINY MUSICIANS

Saturdays 9AM or 10AM

Four fun-filled classes starting at only $60! For ages three and under.

Explore the magical world of music together with your little one, and join us for Tiny Musicians classes at Sweetwater! There will be nursery rhymes and songs, rhythm and movement exercises, simple and fun instruments, and plenty of ways to experience the joy of play!



LITTLE ROCK STARS

Saturdays 11AM or 12PM
Four fun-filled classes starting at only $60! For ages four to five.

Help spark a lifelong love of the magic of music for your little one with four once-weekly learning sessions. Each staff-supervised experience provides fun, hands-on discovery with age appropriate instruments, songs, and movement sure to delight your child.



BUILD-A-BAND


25 per week. Your first session is FREE.

Build-a-Band is a program to help you meet and make music with local musicians like you. Get matched up with bandmates of similar ages and music styles, jam together for one hour per week in our fully stocked practice room, work closely with an experienced coach, and get ready to rock!




ROCK CAMP

Summer 2026 – Coming Soon!

Rock Camp is a thrilling, five-day crash course in rock ‘n‘ roll for aspiring musicians ages 12 to 18. You’ll form a band, write your own song together, and record your song in Sweetwater’s world-class recording studios. Best of all, your band will end the week performing onstage in front of a live audience.
