Tom Porter began his musical career when he first started playing the guitar at age eight. He has developed many playing styles, including fingerpicking, hybrid picking, and flat picking. As a student, Tom’s favorite guitar instructor was Ray Earl, a studio musician who also performed with several touring bands and worked with Loretta Lynn. Tom’s diverse performing career has spanned many musical genres, including country, rock, Southern rock, blues, and traditional R&B. His resume includes tenures with bands such as Savannah, August Rose, Southern Overdrive, Laredo, and Profile. He has also opened up for the Kentucky Headhunters, Alabama, Duke Tumatoe, Colin Ray, LoCash, and the Forester Sisters, to name a few. Music is a lifestyle for Tom, who loves teaching music as much as he enjoys playing. Let Tom inspire you to perform from the heart and have fun!
