Most of Scott’s performances these days are school concerts/productions that he conducts from the podium.

BIOGRAPHY

Scott Newman brings significant teaching experience to the Academy. As a graduate of the Ball State University College of Fine Arts, he holds a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education (BSU, 1998) and a master’s degree in educational leadership (IPFW, 2012). He has taught instrumental music at the secondary level in public and private institutions in northern Indiana for 20 years. His primary instruments are the guitar and saxophone, but he has also taught bass, ukulele, and wind instruments. He has extensive experience in sacred and secular music performance and is passionate about maintaining music education in our schools. Although he enjoys working with young students, he has taught performance, music theory, songwriting, music history, and a myriad of musical genres to all age groups. Scott is determined to help you with the skills and knowledge to master your next musical challenge.
