ABOUT

What do you love about music?
“For heights and depths no words can reach, music is the soul’s own speech.”

Who is your favorite artist?
It depends on the day, but, probably, overall, it’s Gustav Mahler.

What are your top five desert-island albums?
Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2
ELO’s Greatest Hits — Electric Light Orchestra
A Decade of Steely Dan — Steely Dan
Original Studio Cast Performance of Jesus Christ Superstar
Mass — Leonard Bernstein

Do you play in a band or currently perform?
I just moved to town from Nashville after a year of the Recent Unpleasantness, but before that, I was directing music for Mary Poppins at the Nashville Rep, arranging a new musical by Ray Stevens for Chaffin’s Theatre, and directing music at a local Nashville church.

BIOGRAPHY

Dove Award winner Rolin Mains brings extensive experience to the Sweetwater Academy. He has worked as a composer, conductor, and touring pianist in Nashville and New York City for over 25 years. During that time, he has produced concerts, musicals, film scores, and award-winning records, including an album of his own, A Time to Dance. His playing skills have earned him spots on concert tours with artists such as Natalie Cole, Sandi Patty, Wayne Watson, Ray Boltz, and Donna Summer.
