Jim is currently a member of New Millennium Jazz Orchestra, IPFW Faculty Jazz Combo, and West Central Quartet and the Jim Steele Trio.

BIOGRAPHY

Jim Steele brings over 30 years of professional performing experience to his private teaching, specializing in traditional classical and jazz lessons. He has given clinics, taught in classroom settings, and is on the music faculty at Purdue University Fort Wayne.


Jim has performed throughout Indiana, in New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Washington D.C., playing with Ernie Watts, Chuck Mangione, and James Carter, among others. He plays with the New Millennium Jazz Orchestra, IPFW Faculty Jazz Combo, and West Central Quartet. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by IPFW Faculty Jazz Combo and Jazz Ensemble, Indiana All-State Jazz Combo, and New Millennium Jazz Orchestra.


Jim helps students build strong piano fundamentals, emphasizing focused practice techniques to unlock the full musical potential of each student. Regardless of your level, Jim can’t wait to welcome you into his classroom!
