ABOUT

What do you love about music?
Music is a language unlike any other and offers us infinite opportunities to express our emotions and tell our stories. It records human history in a way that words alone cannot achieve.

Who is your favorite artist?
I enjoy several musical genres and have many favorite artists and composers, including Claude Debussy, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Maurice Ravel, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

What are some of your favorite desert-island albums?
Leftoverture — Kansas
Houses of the Holy — Led Zeppelin
Blue — Joni Mitchell
Hermit of Mink Hollow — Todd Rundgren
Aja — Steely Dan
Ravel Debussy Fauré Piano Trios — Trio Fontenay
Symphony No. 2, ‘A London Symphony’ — Vaughan Williams

Do you play in a band or currently perform?
I’ve been involved in several local theater productions, including musical direction of Jesus Christ Superstar and playing the lead role of Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. I’ve performed with several local bands over the years, most notably Rumble, an all-original percussion-based ensemble from the mystical kingdom of Waynedale.

BIOGRAPHY

After receiving his bachelor of arts in psychology and business administration from DePauw University, Randy Romero attended IPFW and earned a bachelor of science in music therapy. While there, he studied vocal pedagogy and began teaching voice lessons and building his music therapy private practice. After studying Speech Level Singing (SLS) with world-renowned vocal coach Seth Riggs, Randy began combining SLS with traditional approaches to help students balance their registers with comfort, accuracy, and longevity. Randy tailors lessons to each student’s needs and goals, incorporating music theory, ear training, general musicianship, and vocal rehabilitation as the student desires. Randy can help you establish durable, effective techniques applicable to any style of music for a lifetime of singing.
