BIOGRAPHY

Although Columbus, Ohio, native Jacob Kaufman began his musical journey studying piano at age seven, by the time he was a high school junior, his passion had shifted to playing bass guitar. He became an active member of the Columbus music scene, performing in multiple blues and cover bands and touring with the funk/jam band Dropsickle and the reggae band Rockstead. He began making his musical mark locally while studying bass performance and songwriting at Purdue University Fort Wayne; performing with DeKalb High School’s show choir; working as a substitute bassist for Night to Remember and other Fort Wayne groups; collaborating with fellow PFW students on music projects, juries, and senior recitals; performing in a Led Zeppelin tribute band; and producing his original project, the Heart of Iris.
