What do you love about music?

Music has the power to change lives because it expresses emotion in a way that words alone cannot, and it helps people process life changes. Music helps people develop empathy, creativity, discipline, and courage. Music has an infinite number of uses and purposes, and I love the versatility it provides. Music is accessible to everyone and creates communities.

Who is your favorite artist?

My favorite artist currently is Rend Collective because they are constantly looking for new instruments and elements to add to their music.

I do not currently perform in a band, but I do accompany local singers

April is from central Illinois. She graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelors degree in Music Education and from Walden University with a Masters degree in Education. She was a public school choir director for 15 years and has more than 20 years experience teaching voice and piano lessons. Her goal as a music educator is to help students find their passion and creativity in music. She is married with two daughters and enjoys hiking, reading, and crafting.
